Note: All the images are rendered using the VRaySun and VRaySky set with their default parameters.

Example 1: exposure control - f-number (f-stop)

This parameter controls the aperture size of the virtual camera. Lowering the f-number value increases the aperture size and so makes the image brighter, since more light enters the camera. In reverse, increasing the f-number makes the image darker, as the aperture is closed. This parameter also determines the amount of the DOF effect, see Example 9.

Exposure is on, Shutter speed is 60.0, ISO is 200, Vignetting is on, White balance is white.

Example 2: exposure control - Shutter speed

This parameter determines the exposure time for the virtual camera. The longer this time is (small Shutter speed value), the brighter the image would be. In reverese - if the exposure time is shorter (high Shutter speed value), the image would get darker. This parameter also affects the motion blur effect, see Example 10.

Example 3: Exposure control: film speed (ISO )

This parameter determines the sensitivity of the film and so the brightness of the image. If the film speed (ISO) is high (film is more sensitive to the light), the image is brighter. Lower ISO values mean that the film is less sensitive and produces a darker image.

Exposure is on, Shutter Speed is 60.0, f-number is 8.0, Vignetting is on, White balance is white.

Example 4: Zoom factor

This parameter determines the zooming (In and Out) of the final image. It doesn't move the camera forward nor backwards.

Example 5: Vertical shift (Camera Correction)

Using this parameter you can archive the so called "2 point perspective". To have that done automatically, use the Guess vertical shift button.

Example 6: Distortion

The difference between the two types of distortion is slightly visible. The Cubic type should be used in some camera tracking programs like SynthEyes, Boujou etc.

Distortion is 1.0, Distortion type is Quadratic	Distortion is -1.0, Distortion type is Quadratic

Example 7: Vignetting

This parameter controls the simulating the optical vignetting effect of real-world cameras.

Vignetting is 0.0 (vignetting is disabled)	Vignetting is 1.0

Example 8: White balance

Using the white balance color allows additional modification of the image output. Objects in the scene that have the specified color will appear white in the image. E.g. for daylight scenes this should be peach color to compensate for the color of the sun light etc.

Example 9: Depth Of Field (DOF)

To enable the DOF effect you need to turn on the Depth-of-field option in the Sampling rollout of the physical camera. The effect is most strongly seen when the camera is close to some object, like when doing a "macro" photo. For a strong DOF effect, the camera aperture must be open wide (i.e. small f-number value). That may lead to a very burnt and bright image, so to preserve the same illuminosity over the whole image, the shutter speed must shortened. And at last but not at least the focus distance determines which part of the scene will be actually on focus. To get the focus near, you would need a small value and reverse - higher value for far focus.

Example 10: Motion Blur (MB)

To enable the motion blur effect you need to turn on the Motion blur checkbox in the Sampling rollout of the physical camera. The amount of the motion blur is determined by the speed of the moving object itself as well as the Shutter speed setting of the camera. Long shutter speeds will produce more motion blur, as the movement of the object is tracked over a longer in time. In reverse, short shutter speeds will produce less motion blur effect. Keep in mind that to preserve the same illuminosity over the whole image, the f-number value has to be corrected as well.

Note that in the example the far object is moving quicker than the near one, which cases the difference in the motion blur effects.

This week i did some macro try outs.. but with out a macro lens , its so hard to have macro. my extension tubes and reverse rings attached with  the 50 mm prim, help me a lot to giving nice output after a great hard work

Doha port kuwait

On Friday 20th we visited Doha port. for capturing some different shots. because of Ramadan i dint sleep that day. after supper and the fajr prayer i wait to get the time to start. because of over sleeping some of our buddies cant join that day. we reached at Doha just behind the abandoned boats grave yard area at 4:30 am for the morning shoot.

  thank god it was a surprise that day.. lots of clouds... as far as clouds in Kuwait ..very rare...because of low tide the water is very less in the sea and so we walk to the sea little deep inside to have nice location to shoot. me angelito, manoj sandeep prem and one new member Hareesh had nice sunrise captures with the clouds.

The scientific center kuwait

About scientific center   

TSCK is a cultural achievement and educational facility enriched with knowledge, which portrays fascinating architectural design that reflects Islamic art and culture. The walls contain ceramic depictions of stories that tell of Kuwait’s history. The main building is comprised of 3 main attractions: the Aquarium, Discovery Place and IMAX Theater.  

The Aquarium

An entertaining journey into the aquarium takes you on a tour of 3 different environments. … All three sections provide specimens of animal, plant, and marine life of that particular environment. The first walks you through the desert section which contains animals found in the desert such as the caracal, snake , and hedgehog. The next environment is the coastal edge, where you find animals such as penguins, otters and coastal fish.

The third is the Marine environment which includes many tanks which hold reef sharks, rays, and fish in 100,000 liters of water.  The main tank holds 1.5 million liters of water and contains deep sea sharks, turtles, fish and artificial corals.  The divers at TSCK have the task of feeding the sharks and rays during scheduled live demonstrations.

The fossils located just before the exit of the aquarium and in the corridors of TSCK are a gift from Sheikh Sabah Al Jaber Al Sabah and Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah from their private collections. Other services provided for the visitors are privately guided tours and the “Dive with the Sharks” program.  This program allows visitors above 14 years of age who hold open water scuba diving license to dive side by side with the sharks in the main tank for 30 minutes.  

In order to educate visitors and modernize the aquarium,  42 interactive screen were placed in front of every exhibit. These touch screens are filled with valuable information related to animals within the Center.  This was done with the aim to educate visitors in an entertaining manner (Edutaining) using modern technology and using different formats such as pictures, videos, sounds, and games  to appeal to younger generations.

Discovery Place

Learn about science through interactive games and activities.  The Discovery Place is filled with educational and entertaining exhibits, related to various forms of Science.  A group of interactive scientific exhibits present the visitors with a simplified way to learn about energy (such as magnetic, kinetic, and solar) and the different ways to create it. The traveling exhibits are a new philosophy has been adopted by The Scientific Center in October of 2009 to renew and develop the exhibits in Discovery Place. That has been done by allocating a space of about 500 meters squared for traveling exhibits, which change every 6 months.  This constantly introduces new and never seen exhibits covering a wide array of subjects from well renowned scientific centers around the world.  

The Scientific Center includes an IMAX Theater with a giant screen, 15 meters high and 20 meters wide.  It is equipped with the latest media facilities and an 8000 watt sound system.  3D educational and documentary films in Arabic and English are shown using the largest film format in the film industry (10 times the usual 35mm film). 

All elements of the 250 seats IMAX Theater come together to immerse the viewer in an unimaginable experience which  makes the viewer feel like they are involved in the movie. IMAX’s patented and customized geometry maximizes your field of view. The precise positioning and shape of the IMAX screen as well as the acoustical treatment of the walls create an environment that delivers the world’s most immersive movie experience. To create the illusion of three-dimensional depth, the IMAX 3D uses two camera lenses to represent the left and right eyes. The two lenses are separated by an interocular distance of 64 mm (2.5 in), the average distance between a human’s eyes. By recording on two separate rolls of film for the left and right eyes, and then projecting them simultaneously, viewers experience seeing a 3D image on a 2D screen. During projection, the left and right eye images are circularly polarized in opposite directions to one another as they are projected onto the IMAX screen. By wearing special eyeglasses with lenses polarized in their respective directions to match the projection, the left eye image can be viewed only by the left eye since the polarization of the left lens will cancel out that of the right eye projection, and the right eye image can be viewed only by the right eye since the polarization of the right lens will cancel out that of the left eye projection.

Dhow Harbour

Housing the only surviving Kuwait sailing ship from the pre-oil era, boom Fateh-el-Khair, the Dhow Harbor gives the visitor insight into a vital part of Kuwaiti heritage. Located directly on the water front, the Harbor includes samples of various smaller dhows and vessels used during this period. Fateh-El-Khair is a deep sea sailing ship of the "boom saffar" type. It is 19.8 meters long, 8.1 meters wide and 4.9 meters high.  This ship was designed and built in Kuwait in 1938 by the late shipbuilder Ali Abdul Rassol for the merchant Mohamed Al-Ghanim and his brother Thunayan Al-Ghanim. The building of the ship took 18 carpenters who worked 60 days round the clock and cost approximately 17,000 rupees. She is made of Indian timber and weighs 95 tons when empty and can sail up to 13 knots.

Fateh-El-Khair’s main route was from India to Africa as a cargo ship and could carry a total of approximately 226 tons. This ship carried dates from Basra, Iraq and would trade them for tea in India and wood from Africa. The journey took seven months and went to several exotic ports. Merchants on this ship traded dates in Mangalore, India for tiles and in Zanzibar the ship would take on mangrove poles to use in the building of Arabian houses. She continued  this same route until 1952, when the life and economy of Kuwait changed with the discovery of oil. At this point, work within Kuwait became more appealing to the sea men.  The merchants in Kuwait began selling their boats to Iran. 

In 1954 the ship was outfitted with an engine that assisted in powering the ship. The ship was re-discovered in Dubai by Mr. Yaqoub Yousef Al Haji. He took a picture of the boat and took it to the  shipbuilder Ali Abdul Rassol in order to identify it. The photo and summary of Fateh-El-Khair was presented during the KFAS board meeting in which Sheikh Jaber was present. It was then decided to find the boat and  it was purchased by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences in 1994 and renovated in Doha, Kuwait by Ali Abdul Rassol. The Fateh-El-Khair is now permanently docked at the Dhow Harbor of the TSCK as a monument to the maritime history of Kuwait. In the year 2000, two months before the opening of TSCK, the permanent docking took place. The event included the famous ship captain and merchant, Captain Essa Yaqoub Bishara who navigated the ship for 11 years.

There are two smaller boats which are on exhibit in conjunction with the Fateh-El-Khair. One is a mashuwa, a long boat of the dhow built in 1995. The other is the kait. This was a type of boat which was used to transport the captain from one ship to another. Both were also built by the late Ali Abdul Rassol. The different types of Kuwaiti dhows are as follows: Al Batteel, Al Sanbook, Jalboot, and Shoo’I were used for pearl diving, while Teshala was used for shipping stones used for building.

Old Amiri Hospital Kuwait

The hospital was built in 1949 to be the first government owned hospital. Before that there was only the US missionary hospital and small clinics run by doctors in their own houses. The original hospital building was closed in the 1970s after the opening of the new modern building.

 It is  Kuwait's unique architecture at that time. Looking at the photos you will notice the quality of the various elements. This building is left ignored after the invasion in 1990 where parts of the building were burnt and destroyed.

Despite the scary look of the building, many photographers and artists tend to go there to capture moments of that place. It is time for authorities to take action and to invest in saving the building so that it can become another one of Kuwait’s landmarks.

From Birth Certificate to Civil ID.

Many people having trouble to do the ministry procedures for their new born baby.so i hope these guidance will help all expats living in kuwait.

Before start any procedure better collect the following details.

1) father civil id and copy

2)mother civil id and copy

3)marriage certificate (can be prepared the paper attested from the embassy and stamped behind from the ministry of foreign affairs- its 5 KD stamp.) and copies of that.

A copy costs 50 fills outside and u can copy from your offices. so have more than two copy's all that i prefer. because don't be trouble with copies when you are in a Que.

Here i quote the new born from sabah hospital

1) After 2 days of the discharge from the hospital, (it may take up to 10 days). go with fathers civil id to the counter located in the main entrance of the maternity hospital there is one counter on left side, show the civil id , the ladies will give you a pink colored paper.

2) if the address in salmiya area, the next step is to go to the ministry of birth- newborn. it is located in midan hawally, near the traffic department office, behind the police station. more clearly - there is a masjid. just in between the masjid and NBK bank.

be sure you should have a printed paper with your newborn name  in English and Arabic.
submit the pink colored paper what you got from the hospital, with marriage certificate and the name printed paper (all copies. be sure marriage date mentioned on the affidavit.) they will check the papers and give you date after one week or something...wait for that date..
 after one week they will issue the birth certificate and the medical card (for the vaccinations).
check all the info quoted are correct or not.
directly go to the ministry of foreign affairs located behind KUNA near shuwaikh citycenter, stick 5 KD stamp behind and attest it. 

The next step is applying a new passport.

For passport fill the appropriate form available from the embassy approved passport issuing center (better not to collect the forms from the local typing centers.)  and return it with - 
1) Father passport copy
2) Mother passport copy
3) Birth certificate copy

also need to show the originals.

(the birth certificate they will take from us for the embassy attestation. that will return on delivery of passport.)

Total charge is 18.00 KD. 

in 5 days you will receive the passport unless if there any public holidays.

The next step is to pay the insurancefor the kids it is 31 kd per year. i pay the insurance , the office located next to mubarak al kabeer hospital besides 4th ring and road 30  intersection. if you use the speedy service it is possible on the upstairs with extra 3 kd payment. the documents needed for that is,
1) Father Civil ID copy
1) Mother Civil ID copy
1) Birth certificate  copy

after receive the payment slip need to take signature from the authorized person sitting down (another counter)

now make the papers for residence (iqama) have all the copies of documents at least two.
go to the residence office (jawazat) follow the the instructions. be in que and need to pay 100 KD to the cashier for the first time residence. with one year. each extra year need to stick 10 KD stamp.
have Passport size photo with blue background. 

Don't forget to keep the passports and civil IDs of Father & Mother.

after the residence procedure finish, 

apply for the civil ID in PACI located in janoob surra.
before going there you should fill the envelop available from the Co Op. for the civil ID purposes , neatly and also collect the blood group mentioned paper from your local clinic.

hand over the documents to the PACI HQ person and wait for two days.

try from phone 1889988 after 2 pm check the status. if the civil ID is ready go with 2 KD and collect it from the mentioned machine.
