 Al Hamra is the new landmark with its iconic tower heralding a new era of development and prosperity in Kuwait.
Like an enshrouded figure with its delicate glass veil, the apex of the Tower with carved flared walls depicts a continuation of the sculptural form infinitely upwards. The results reveal a rich, monolithic stone at the south wall framed by graceful, twisting ribbons of torque walls, which define the iconic form of the Tower.

This time i was really happy because i got permission to visit the top floor deck (74th floor). the view from there is amazing.. we can actually can see the whole kuwait in a clear weather.

Unfortunately, the day i went, it was a hazy day so i did not get good view of the whole kuwait. However, I am very thankful for having a breath taking experience overlooking Kuwait. I wish i could spend a full day shooting kuwait landscapes in different  timeframes..

Because of security reasons, we are not allowed to stay for long and they have asked us to finish shooting in an hour.

കുവൈറ്റിൽ ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫി പരിപാടികളുമായി ചുറ്റൽ തുടങ്ങിയ അന്ന് മുതലുള്ള ഒരാഗ്രഹമായിരുന്നു സിറ്റിയിൽ നിന്ന് അകലെ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഫൈലാക്ക ദ്വീപിലേക്ക് ഒരു ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫി ട്രിപ്പ്. മുൻപൊരിക്കൽ പോയിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിലും പല കാരണങ്ങളാൽ അങ്ങോട്ടുള്ള ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫി യാത്ര നടന്നില്ല. ആയിടക്കാണ് രാത്രി ചിത്രങ്ങൾ എടുക്കുന്നതിൽ കൂടുതൽ ശ്രദ്ധകേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങിയത്. മാത്രമല്ല സിഗ്മ ലെന്സ് കമ്പനി പുതിയതായി ഇറക്കിയ ആർട്ട് സീരീസ് ലെൻസുകൾ എന്റെ കൈകളിലേക്ക് എത്തിയത്. 20 mm f / 1.4 , 14 mm f/ 1.8 തുടങ്ങി വലിയ അപ്പേർച്ചർ ഓപ്പണിങ്ങിൽ വരുന്ന ആർട്ട് സീരീസ് ലെൻസുകൾ രാത്രി ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫി പ്രേമികളുടെ ഇഷ്ട്ട ലെൻസായി ചുരുങ്ങിയ സമയം കൊണ്ട് മാറിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. അങ്ങിനെ കുവൈറ്റിന്റെ പല കോണുകളിലും രാത്രി ഫോട്ടോകൾ എടുത്തു നടക്കുന്ന ഒരുങ്ങി ദിവസം പെട്ടെന്ന് മനസ്സിൽ ഓടിയെത്തിയതാണ് പണ്ട് ഗൾഫ് യുദ്ധത്തിൽ കുവൈറ്റികൾ എല്ലാം ഇട്ടെറിഞ്ഞു പലായനം ചെയ്ത ദ്വീപായ ഫൈലക്കാ.

ഒരുപാട് ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫി പുലികൾ അവിടെ ചുറ്റി അടിച്ചു പല വിധ പടങ്ങൾ എടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിലും ഒരു യുണീക്ക് പടം അവിടന്ന് എടുക്കണം എന്ന് മനസ്സ് മന്ത്രിച്ചു..

പതിവ് വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച രാവിലത്തെ റോന്തു ചുറ്റലിനിടെ ഞാൻ ആ വിഷയം സുഹൃത്തുക്കളായ കിരനോടും റിയാസിനോടും അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു.. അടുത്ത് തന്നെ വാങ്ങിയ ഡ്രോൺ കയ്യിലുള്ളതിനാൽ അതവിടെ പോയി പരീക്ഷിക്കേണ്ട അത്യാഗ്രഹത്തിൽ കിരൺ ഡബിൾ ഓക്കേ.. റിയാസ് പിന്നെ ഒരാഴ്ച മുന്നേ ഓക്കേ ആണ് ഈ കാര്യങ്ങൾക്കു. ഉടൻ തന്നെ സഞ്ചാരി കോർ അംഗമായ പ്രസൂൺ ജി യെ വിളിച്ചു യാത്രാ സംബന്ധമായ വിവരങ്ങൾ ശേഖരിച്ചു.

നമ്മുടെ എല്ലാ ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫി, സഞ്ചാരി തുടങ്ങിയ സകലമാന സംഭവത്തിനും പാതിരാ ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫി ട്രിപ്പിനും ചാടി വരുന്ന അനൂപ് ഞാൻ ട്രിപ്പ് പ്ലാൻ ചെയ്യുനണത്തിന്നു മുന്നേ ഇതിനും ഹാജർ....... പിന്നീട് യാത്രക്കുള്ള അന്നെഷണം തുടങ്ങി. പ്രസൂൺ ജി യിൽ നിന്ന് തുടങ്ങിയ അന്നെഷണം കോർ അംഗമായ അജ്മിനിൽ എത്തി നിന്നു. തുടർന്ന് കാര്യങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം വളരെ പെട്ടെന്നായിരുന്നു. ജനുവരി 12 നു വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച വൈകീട്ട് ബോട്ട് സർവീസ് ഉണ്ടെന്നും തിരികെ ശനിയാഴ്ച വൈകീട്ടും ഉണ്ടെന്നും വിവരം കിട്ടി. ആൾ ഒന്നിന് അഞ്ചു ദീനാറും കാർ വിത്ത് ഡ്രൈവർ മുപ്പതു ദീനാറും ആണ് ചെലവ്. എന്തും വരട്ടെ, പോകാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. കുടുംബവും കുട്ടികളും ഒക്കെ ആദ്യമേ ചാടിയതിനാൽ ബാച്ചിലർ ട്രിപ്പ് എന്ന സംരംഭം തൽക്കാലം തഴഞ്ഞു. പിന്നീട് അതൊരു ഫാമിലി ട്രിപ്പായി മാറി. അതോടെ എല്ലാ ട്രിപ്പിനും കൂടെ നിൽക്കുന്ന കുവൈറ്റ് സഞ്ചാരി ചങ്ക് ബ്രോസ് നെ വിളിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

കുടുംബം ഒക്കെ ഉള്ളതിനാൽ പിന്നെ റൂം തിരചിലായി അജ്മിൻ അവസാനം ഒരു രാജു ഭായിനെ തപ്പിപിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് വന്നു. രണ്ടു റൂമും ഹാൾ കിച്ചൺ ബാത്രൂം ഒക്കെ ഉള്ള ഒരു വില്ല പോര്ഷന് 40 ദീനാറിനു ഒപ്പിച്ചു.

വ്യാഴാഴ്ച രാവിലെ കാറിന്റെ പേപ്പർ സബ്മിറ്റ് ചെയ്തു പൈസ അടക്കാൻ പോയി. അപ്പോളാണ് അറിയുന്നത് അങ്ങോട്ട് പോകാൻ സ്ഥലമുണ്ട് ഇങ്ങോട്ടു തിരികെ വരാൻ ശനിയാഴ്ച രണ്ടു കാറിനെ ജങ്കാറിൽ സ്ഥലമൊള്ളൂ. പണിപാളി... അവസാനം രണ്ടു കാർ മാത്രമായി പൊകാൻ തീരുന്മാനിച്ചു. ആളുകളുടെ എണ്ണം നോക്കിയപ്പോ .ജഗപൊക. 2 കാർ, 15 ആളുകൾ.....
എന്റെ അഞ്ചര ഇന്ദ്രിയം ഉടനെ കത്തി.. എന്റെ കാറിൽ 9 പേരെ കേറ്റാം എന്നും അനൂപിന്റെ കാറിൽ 6 പേരും സ്ഥാവര ജംഗമ വസ്തുക്കളും കേറ്റാം എന്നും സെറ്റപ്പാക്കി... നമ്മളോടാ കളി ...

വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച വൈകീട്ട് 4:30 നു എല്ലാവരും ജങ്കാറിൽ കേറി യാത്ര പുറപ്പെട്ടു. പത്തു പതിനെഞ്ചു കാറുകളുമായി ജങ്കാർ സാവധാനം റാസ്‌ സാൽമിയ പോർട്ട് വിട്ടു... സിറ്റി ഞങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് പതിയെ പതിയെ അകന്നു പോയി. കടലിൽ നിന്ന് സിറ്റിയുടെ പിറകിൽ സൂര്യൻ അസ്തമിക്കുന്ന മനോഹരമായ കാഴ്ച ഒപ്പിയെടുത്ത് കൊണ്ട് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫി പ്രയാണം ആരംഭിച്ചു.

ഒന്നര മണിക്കൂർ യാത്ര ചെയ്തു നൗക ഫൈലാക്ക പോർട്ടിൽ അടുത്തു. കാർ ഇറക്കി ആ പതിനഞ്ചേണ്ണത്തിനേം അടക്കി വച്ച് റൂമിലേക്ക് തിരിചു. റൂമിലെത്തി സാധനങ്ങൾ ഇറക്കി വച്ച് ഒന്ന് ചുറ്റിക്കറങ്ങാൻ ഇറങ്ങി. നേരെ പോയത് ഇറാക്കി പട്ടാളം വെടിയുതിർത്തു അരിപ്പ പോലെ ആക്കിയ നാഷണൽ ബാങ്ക് കെട്ടിടത്തിലേക്കാണ്.. രാത്രി ഒരു പ്രേത ഭവനം പോലെ അതവിടെ ഉയർന്നു നിക്കുന്നു. അവിടെ അൽപ്പ നേരം ചിലവഴിച്ചപ്പോളേക്കും എല്ലാവര്ക്കും വിശപ്പിന്റെ വിളികൾ വന്നു തുടങ്ങി. ഒരു ഗ്രൂപ്പ് ഫോട്ടോക്ക് ശേഷം അവിടെ നിന്നും തിരികെ റൂമിലെത്തി.

കുവൈറ്റിൽ നിന്നും രാത്രി ഭക്ഷണവും , ബ്രെക്ക് ഫാസ്റ്റും ഉച്ചക്കായുള്ള ഭക്ഷണവും ഒക്കെ കൊണ്ട് വന്നിരുന്നു. ഫ്രിഡ്ജും ഗ്യാസും ഒക്കെ സൗകര്യം ഉള്ളതിനാൽ എല്ലാം നേരെ ഫ്രിഡ്ജിലേക്കു വച്ചു,
ഇനിയായാണ് ട്വിസ്റ്റ് ...

അനൂപിന്റെവ പിറന്നാളാണ് അടുത്ത ദിവസം.. എന്ന പിന്നെ ഒരു സർപ്രൈസ് ആയിക്കോട്ടെ...
അവൻ അറിയാതെ നമ്മ കേക്കും അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഗിഫ്റ്റും ഒക്കെ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.. ആ കലാപരിപാടികൾ ഒക്കെ വർണ്ണശഭളമാക്കി ഡിന്നറും കഴിച്ചു നേരെ വീണ്ടും ഒരു രാത്രി കറക്കത്തിനു തയ്യാറെടുത്തു.....

ആളൊഴിഞ്ഞ പ്രേതനഗരം പോലുള്ള ഒരു ദ്വീപ്.... ബോട്ട് അടുക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു മാത്രം ഒരു ടൗൺ ഷിപ്പ്.. ബാക്കി ഭാഗം നീളത്തിൽ ചതുപ്പു നിറഞ്ഞ മരുഭൂമി ...!!

രാത്രി ഒരു കുഞ്ഞിനെ പോലും കാണാനില്ല.. ആകെ ഉള്ളത് രണ്ടു ബക്കാലകൾ ( ചെറു ഗ്രോസറി കട ) ഒരു പോലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷൻ, ഒരു മിലിട്ടറി റഡാർ സ്റ്റേഷൻ പിന്നെ ഒരു റിസോർട്ട്.. ബാക്കി എല്ലാം ഒഴിഞ്ഞ പഴയ വീടുകൾ...ഇടിഞ്ഞു പൊളിഞ്ഞവ, ആളനക്കം ഇല്ലാത്തവ... ഒഴിഞ്ഞ വീഥികൾ...പിന്നെ രാത്രിയും.... ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രയാണം ആരംഭിച്ചു.. എങ്ങോട്ടെന്നില്ലാതെ കണ്ട വഴികളിലൂടെ എല്ലാം... എവിടെ ചെന്ന് നിർത്തിയാലും ചാടി ഇറങ്ങി മേൽപ്പോട്ടു നോക്കും.. സന്തോഷിക്കും... ഒരു രാത്രി ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫർക്ക് സന്തോഷിക്കാൻ എന്ത് വേണം...

ലൈറ്റ് പൊലൂഷൻ തീരെ കുറവ്, ഉറുമ്പരിച്ച കുടപോലെ ആകാശം മുഴുവൻ തിളങ്ങി നിൽക്കുന്ന നക്ഷത്രങ്ങൾ....,
ഞങ്ങൾ വീണ്ടും പോയി ബാങ്കിന്റെ കെട്ടിടത്തിനടുത്തേക്ക്, അൽപ്പം ഫോട്ടോ ഒക്കെ എടുത്തു പണ്ടെങ്ങോ പറഞ്ഞു കേട്ട മിലിട്ടറി അബാന്ഡന്റ് വാഹനങ്ങൾ ഉള്ള യാർഡും തപ്പി കറക്കം ആയി.. ഒരുപാട് ചുറ്റി.. പക്ഷെ അറിയാത്ത സ്ഥലവും അറിയാത്ത സ്ഥലപ്പേരും കാരണം ഗൂഗിളിൽ തപ്പിയിട്ടും നോ രക്ഷ.. അതിനിടെ ബക്കാലയിൽ വച്ച് കണ്ട ഒരു ബംഗാളി സ്ഥലം കാണിച്ചു തരാം എന്ന് ഏറ്റു ..ആളുടെ കാറിനു പിന്നാലെ വെച്ച് പിടിച്ചു.. അതെ നേരം തന്നെ കുവൈറ്റിൽ നിന്ന് സുഹൃത്തുക്കൾ ലൊക്കേഷനും അയച്ചു തന്നു.. അങ്ങിനെ തേടിപ്പിടിച്ചു മിലിട്ടറി വെഹിക്കിൾസ് ഗ്രേവ് യാർഡിൽ എത്തി ചേർന്നു ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫറുടെ ഹൃദയം സന്തോഷം കൊണ്ട് പുറത്തു വന്നു പടപടാ ഇടിച്ചു...

ഒരുപാട് സബ്ജക്റ്റുകൾ.. ഫോർഗ്രൗണ്ട്....നോർത്ത്പോൾ.....നക്ഷത്രങ്ങൾ....ഇരുട്ട്... ഇന്ന് സ്റ്റാർട്രയിൽസ് ഒക്കെ എടുത്തു മരിക്കും.. അനൂപും അജ്മിനും റിയാസും കാമറ എടുത്തു ഓടി... അപ്പോളേക്കും അവിടെ ഇൻചാർജ് ഉള്ള ആൾ അവിടെ എത്തി. ഫോട്ടോ എടുക്കാനാണെന്നും ഒക്കെ ഞങ്ങൾ ആളെ പറഞ്ഞു മനസ്സിലാക്കി, അവിടെ ഉള്ള സാധനങ്ങളിൽ തൊടരുതെന്നും ചിലപ്പോ റേഡിയോ ആക്റ്റീവ് ആകും എന്നും വാർണിങ്ന ൽകി ആൾ പോയി.. പിന്നെ ശരിക്കും സമാധാനമായി.. ധൈര്യമായി നിന്ന് ഫോട്ടോ എടുക്കലോ....മൊബൈൽ ആപ്പ് ഒക്കെ വച്ച് നോർത്ത് പോൾ ഒക്കെ കണ്ടു പിടിച്ചു നേരെ സ്റ്റാർട്രെയിൽ അടി തുടങ്ങി. കിരൺ നേരം വെളുത്തിട്ടു ഡ്രോൺ ഓടിക്കാം എന്ന ഭാവത്തിൽ അവിടവിടെ ചുറ്റി നടന്നു..

കുറെ നേരത്തിനു ശേഷം കുട്ടികളെയും കൊണ്ട് സ്ത്രീകളിൽ രണ്ടു പേര് റൂമിലേക്ക് പോയി....
തണുപ്പിന്റെ കാഠിന്ന്യം കൂടി കൂടി വന്നു...നല്ല മിസ്റ്റും തുടങ്ങി... അൽപ്പാൽപ്പമായി ഫോട്ടോയെടുക്കാൻ കഴിയാതെ ആയി. ലെന്സിനു മുന്നിൽ മിസ്റ്റ്പി ടിക്കുന്നു . അനൂപ് കൊണ്ട് വന്ന ആന്റി മിസ്റ്റ് സൊലൂഷൻ ഒക്കെ ഇട്ടു തുടച്ചിട്ടും രക്ഷയില്ല.. എങ്കിലും നമ്മ നെവർ ഗിവപ്പ്ആ ണല്ലോ...ഓരോ ഫ്രയിമും തുടച്ചു തുടച്ചോക്കെ കുറെ ഫോട്ടോ എടുത്തു.. ഒരു മൂന്നു മണി വരെ അവിടെ ചിലവഴിച്ചു. ഇടക്കിടെ കട്ടൻ ചായയും ചിപ്സും ഒക്കെ നുണഞ്ഞു ആ രാത്രി അടിപൊളിയാക്കി.. ശേഷം റൂമിൽ വന്നു ബാറ്ററി ഒക്കെ ഒന്ന് ചാർജ് ആക്കി വീണ്ടും പുറത്തിറങ്ങി.... ആഹാ....രാത്രി മഹാ രാത്രി.... നല്ല അടിപൊളി ഫോഗ്.. തൊട്ടു മുന്നിലുള്ളത് പോലും കാണുന്നില്ല... എന്നാപ്പിന്നെ വീണിടം വിഷ്ണു ലോകം.... കാർ നിർത്തി ചാടി ഇറങ്ങി മഞ്ഞിൽ കുളിച്ചു കുറെ ഫോട്ടോകൾ പകർത്തി.. ഡ്രൈവിങ് ദുഷ്കരമായപ്പോൾ അഞ്ചുമണിയോടെ റൂമിലെത്തി... നേരെ ചായയും , രാത്രിയിലെ കൂട്ടുകാരൻ ലൈവ് മുട്ട പൊരിച്ചതും അടിച്ചുവിട്ടു... ബാറ്ററി ഒക്കെ ഒന്ന് കൂടെ ചാർജ് ചെയ്തു ആര് മണിയോടെ വീണ്ടും കറങ്ങാൻ ഇറങ്ങി..
സ്വർഗ്ഗം താന്നിറങ്ങി വന്നതോ..... സ്വപ്നം പൂവിറങ്ങി വന്നതോ...!!! വീണ്ടും ഗ്രേവ്‌ യാർഡിലെത്തി... മൂടൽ മഞ്ഞിൽ കുളിച്ചു നിൽക്കുന്ന തുരുമ്പെടുത്ത മിലിട്ടറി വാഹനങ്ങൾ... 15 - 30 ഡിഗ്രി സൂര്യൻ... ഫോട്ടോ എടുക്കാൻ ഇനി എന്ത് വേണം... പിന്നെ ഒരു ഓട്ടമായിരുന്നു.... കഴിയാവുന്ന ഫ്രയിമുകൾ കാമറക്കുള്ളിലാക്കി .. മഞ്ഞിൽ അലിഞ്ഞു കുറെ നെരംനടന്നു.. ക്ഷീണിച്ചപ്പോൾ പ്രാതൽ കഴിക്കാൻ റൂമിലെത്തി... അൽപ്പ നേരത്തെ വിശ്രമത്തിനു ശേഷം റെഡിയായി ഫൈലാക്ക റൗണ്ടപ്പിനായി തിരിച്ചു... ഉച്ച വരെ കറങ്ങി അടിച്ചു റൂമിലെത്തി, ഞങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട് വന്ന ഭക്ഷണം ഒക്കെ ചൂടാക്കി കഴിച്ചു വിശപ്പൊക്കെ മാറ്റി ഒരു ലോങ്ങ് ഡ്രൈവിന് തയ്യാറെടുത്തു.. അതെ ഇനി ഫൈലാക്കയിൽ ഒന്നും കാണാനില്ല... ബാക്കി ഉള്ളത് അങ്ങേ അറ്റം മാത്രമാണ്.. എന്നാൽ പിന്നെ അങ്ങോട്ടാവട്ടെ യാത്ര.. ഒരു മൂന്നു കൊലോമീറ്റർ പോയപ്പോളേക്കും റോഡ് അവസാനിച്ചു.. പിന്നെ ചതുപ്പു ഉറച്ച മൺ വഴിയിലൂടെ ഒരു പത്തു പന്ത്രണ്ടു കിലോമീറ്റർ.. വിജനമായ വഴി.. ഞങ്ങളുടെ രണ്ടു വാഹനങ്ങൾ ഒഴികെ വേറെ ഒന്നും ഇല്ല ... ഒരു മുക്കാൽ മണിക്കൂർ നേരം കൊണ്ട് അപ്പുറത്തെ കരയിൽ എത്തി.. അപ്പോളേക്കും കിരൺ റെ കൺട്രോൾ പോയിരുന്നു.. മൂപ്പർ വേഗം ഡ്രോൺ വെളിയിലെടുത്തു ഏരിയൽ ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫി ആരംഭിച്ചു... അത് കണ്ടു എനിക്കും ചുണ്ടു വിറച്ചു.. നമ്മളും കാമറ ഒക്കെ ഒരിടത്തു വച്ച് വിമാനം പൊക്കി... അനൂപും റിയാസും അജ്മിനും ഷൂട്ടോടു ഷൂട്ട്... ഭംഗിയേറിയ കുറച്ചു ക്ലിക്കുകൾ കൈകളിലാക്കിയ ശേഷം അവിടെ നിന്നും തിരിച്ചു ... തിരികെ പോരുന്ന വഴി ആളുപേക്ഷിച്ചു പോയ ഒരു വില്ലേജിലേക്കു പ്രവേശിച്ചു... ഷോപ്പിംഗ് മാളും ബസ് സ്റ്റേഷനും സ്വിമ്മിങ് പൂളും ബീച്ച് ഫ്രണ്ടും ഒക്കെ ഉള്ള ഭവനങ്ങൾ.. വെടിയുണ്ട കേറി പ്രേതഭവങ്ങൾ ആയി കിടക്കുന്നു.. ഒരു നെടുവീർപ്പോടെ അതിനിടയിലൂടെ കാറോടിച്ചു... അത്യാവശ്യം ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫിയും ഒക്കെ നടത്തി തിരികെ റൂമിലെത്തി.. 16 ആം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ റിമൈൻസ്ഉ ള്ള ഒരു മ്യുസിയം - യുനെസ്‌കോ ഹെറിറ്റേജ് സൈറ്റ് ഉണ്ട് അവിടെ.. പക്ഷെ എല്ലാവരും ക്ഷീണിച്ചതിനാൽ അവിടെ കയറിയില്ല....റൂമിൽ വന്നു സാധനങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെ പാക്ക് ചെയ്തു പുറത്തി റങ്ങി .. ജങ്കാർ വരൻ ഇനിയും സമയം ഉണ്ട്.. കുറച്ചകലെ ഉള്ള ഒരു ഒട്ടക ഫാമിലേക്ക് നേരെ വണ്ടി വിട്ടു.. ശേഷം നേരെ അടുത്ത് തന്നെ ഉള്ള ആളൊഴിഞ്ഞ ബീച്ചിലെത്തി.... സൂര്യൻ ചക്രവാളത്തിലേക്ക് ചാഞ്ഞിറങ്ങുന്ന കാഴ്ച കണ്ടു ഒന്നിരുന്നേ ഒള്ളൂ... ഞാൻ ആ മണ്ണിൽകിടന്നു ഉറങ്ങിപ്പോയി... അൽപ്പ സമയത്തിന് ശേഷം ഉണർന്നപ്പോളേക്കും ഇരുട്ട് പരന്നിരുന്നു.. നേരെ എല്ല്ലാവരും തിരികെ ബോട്ട് ജെട്ടിയിലേക്ക്....7 മണിയോടെ ബോട്ട് വന്നു രാത്രി 9 ആയപ്പൊളേക്കും തിരികെ റാസ്‌ സാല്മിയയിൽ ബോട്ടടുത്തു... അങ്ങിനെ ഒരുപാട് നാളായി മനസ്സിൽ കൊണ്ട് നടന്ന ഒരു രാത്രി ഫോട്ടോ ഷൂട്ട് ഇൻ ഫൈലാക്ക അതോടെ സാധിച്ച സന്തോഷത്തിൽ ഞങ്ങളെല്ലാവരും വീട്ടിലെലേക്ക്... ബാക്കി യാത്ര, ചിത്രങ്ങളിലൂടെ....

Al-Arfaj - The National Flower of Kuwait

Rhanterum epapposum, or locally called Arfaj became the national flower of Kuwait in 1983.

The selection of the national flower is not a random one, and the choice involves consideration of environmental aspects, historical roots and abundance, as well as economic value to the state. Despite the fierce competition between desert flora, it was the Arfaj that claimed the crown and became known as the national flower.

This plant can be found in both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia deserts. The Arfaj plant consists of a complicated network of branches scattered with small thorny leaves and bright yellow flowers. The plant can be as high as 60 cm and the leaves as long as 2 cm. 

The flower normally blooms from December to late part of March so it is very common to see it along roadsides and deserts nowadays.

The history

It has been noted that Arfaj flowers started to vanish... I had my first glimpse on these beautiful flowers from a magazine in 2003 when I first came to Kuwait. From that day, I've always wanted to visit the desert areas to see it.  Unfortunately, I am not able to travel that time as I still don't have my own car.  It was in 2006 when I get the chance to visit the desert and it has been a yearly routine for me to see these beautiful flowers. However, I have noticed a decrease in growth from 2006 until recently. Thank God! this flower blooms amazingly again.. I think it has been after a long time that this flower covered the desert this much again. In previous years it was too little and could not even cover half of the desert. TI believe this year's climate and having sufficient rain helps the plant grew more.

French botanist Renato Desfontaines, in his encyclopedia "Flora Atlantica," describes the Arfaj as one of the best types of flora in the area, noting that while it was rare in many countries, it covers 30 percent of Kuwait's surface area around the year.

Kuwait Motocross 2013-14

Kuwait Motocross 2013-2014

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon! A great day to begin the rally season! Today i will be sharing another motocross event I witnessed recently. This isn't my first time covering such event but I can still feel the excitement just by thinking of it. 

We reached the track field around 12:20 in the afternoon to attend the photographer's meeting which was new to me. This time, we were briefed on the allowed spots for photographers and some do's and don'ts during the race. However, since the lecture was in arabic and most of the photographers cannot really comprehend, it just turned out to be a "hear and throw lecture". It was an awesome sight to see the field full of bikers and photographers everywhere.  I was surprised to see the race track with hundreds of photographers covering the event. :P

The event was held on the same place last year near the 6th ring road. I have been there previously and so the place was easy to find for me. (Link here)

The whole event was superb and action-packed! (a biker with his bike, during the race flew over me by the way :P)
 

During the previous events I've already tried panning (Link here) on my shots, and so this time I tried shooting in multi-exposure to catch more action photos.

The idea of doing a multi exposure shot is quite simple; First of all we need at least a monopod or a tripod to stabilize the camera. Having a wide angle lens will be a lot better to capture the full ground. (Apparently, i dont have that :( ... so i used telephoto lens and shoot from approximately 80 meters away.) You have to set your camera to a continuous fastest shooting mode possible. Lastly, you may now select the rider or the subject, study the bikers movement and shoot.. (Based on my experience, I had better image results shooting in manual focus and so I would highly recommend focusing your cameras manually)

You can now post process your images in photoshop. (The process is actually called digital blending.) Below are more of my processed shots.

It was awesome to see the field full of bikers and photographers everywhere. Thanks to www.q8racing.com for providing us updates and schedules of the competition. It was a very exciting and action-packed event over-all. I have met new indian photographers from the track. It's also good to see and bond with my old photography friends (I'm not saying you guys are old, but... ahm.. :P) Happy New year Everyone! :D :D :D
